Why was Lighthouse Global Created?

Updated: Mar 15, 2023

Answered by Head Mentor, Paul S. Waugh

Paul S. Waugh, a founder of numerous businesses and networks in South Africa, moved to the UK in 1999 with a vast amount of knowledge and experience relating to mentoring, leadership, effectiveness, personal development, entrepreneurship, business and career development. Despite his growth in character and competence, through both success and failure alike, he felt that he hadn’t come close to optimising any of his businesses, though many saw him as extremely successful. He cites that learning from failure is his greatest reason for the success he has achieved. To this day he continues to fail, continues to learn, and continues to succeed.

After 18 years of research into human performance in life, careers, and business, our findings led to the launch of the Entrepreneurial Club, which paved the way for what was Lighthouse Global.

In this video, Paul S. Waugh explains why he started the organisation (originally named FranklinWaugh) back in November 2004.

Since this time, we have engaged with more than 70,000 people from a diverse range of backgrounds, ages, professions, industries, faiths and beliefs. Our ultimate mission is to help conscientious people to overcome their obstacles to creating optimal value, in order to always have the resources to ALWAYS be able to say YES where we ought to say YES both inside and outside our front doors.

Additionally, please feel free to follow us on social media to learn more about what we’ve discovered over the past 18 years.

I find Paul really shares why it is so meaningful to start with the person first not the business, but the right person in order to optimise their lives. I joined Lighthouse to develop my career but quickly saw the need for developing my conscience was more important than any career. Thank you for sharing this article James, thank you Lighthouse for your support you’ve given me to be able to work through my challenges to become a healthier human being.

Thank you James, what I really found valuable is just how Paul is open and honest with his failures and well as successes. He shares about all and NOT just those that he has been successful in, that I feel is what makes the difference. He has helped me considerably through my failures to see those mistakes that I made, learn from them and grow through them. He once shared with us all, one of his mentors said to him, "If you want to learn how to succeed, first learn how to fail well" (Tony Factor - A highly successful Businessman in South Africa even though he was dyslexic.)

Thank you for sharing James, what Paul and Warren have built over the last 18 years in the form of research, business, understanding what is required deep in the foundation of humanity is inspiring to no end. A lot of what you have worked on you have never publicised, which will seem odd to people who might be in business for the glory. Thank you Paul, your expertise and wisdom has helped me in my life in the most profound ways, thank you for your courage with embarking on this endeavour.

I resonate with you so strongly Jai, and as almost twice your age, with the addition of the value of the power of hindsight. I entered the world in my teenage years, very damaged from toxic parenting and totally unprepared for life. If I had the healing and insights that I have acquired from Paul, in my younger years, my choices throughout my life would have been vastly different. I did not see myself as a person of value, so why did I expect others to value me.I have acquired such valuable insights through my many mistakes and subsequent pain, which I deeply appreciate and share with others who resonate with these experiences. Mutual healing through the mentoring and counselli…

What I love and value the most is that this man started Lighthouse International for human reasons, to minimise the suffering he sees in young people growing up bewildered by an increasingly noise and complex life. Thank you Paul Waugh. Business is a means to human transformation and creating more value, to bring the right resources together, not for just making a few bucks...anyone who knows anything about human development knows the people and relationships come first, not money. Anyone putting slanderous claims against Lighthouse, I've realised, is just bitter about not having money. We need to teach children they are sacred by treating ourselves and each other with dignity and take the responsibility to grow up.
